Look at the fasteners first. Round is the usual shape for a pearl snap; here each one is cut as a diamond, and that small change turns the closure from hardware into decoration along the whole front. The corduroy beneath has been through a wash, which removes the stiffness of new cloth and leaves something that feels broken in from day one. At this weight, cotton corduroy hangs close to the body instead of standing off it.
Corduroy is a quiet fabric with enough texture to replace a pattern entirely. Open over a tee, or snapped up to the collar. Autumn, cold nights, and any day a flat plain shirt would feel like not enough.
